The Hour (Of Doom) What actually is the Hour? The Hour (of Doom) is a sort of explosion of a hydrogen bomb emanating from an outcry less than a twinkle of an eye. It will lead to a great destruction, when the sky is cleft asunder, the stars are scattered and fall down and the mountains are blown away. Everything including the earth is crushed to fine dust as they were at the beginning. The earth will be shaken seriously and crushed in moment subsequent to the severe explosion. How? In what manner will this explosion occur? And when is it likely to happen? The explosion will occur at the time the ability of man reaches its climax on earth when the technological development might have got to the highest degree and all the secrets of the earth and sky are discovered, which of course, will lead to the competition of power between one nation and another. It is this competition that will lead them to invent the “Hour” bombshell, to which Qur’an has given several appellations such as As-Sakhat (deafening cry), At-tamah, Al-Qariah (the disaster), and the simplest of these appellation is Sayhatun waidatun or Zajratun Wahidatu (an outcry) subsequent to which everything will be crushed to fine dust and atoms. Differentiation between the two can be likened to being asleep and awake. We are not unaware of the fact that the sleeping person who has no feeling is quite different from the one who is awake and can perceive all his surroundings. A man who is asleep may wake up from his sleep and discover that all beautiful or ugly things he saw in his sleep are not but mere dream. A lot is happening while asleep but hardly do a few of them come to reality in real life. This is a typical example of our (immediate) life after death. It is a sleeping life whose events seem not
