Ginsberg was leading figure of the beat generation. He was showing the world in a different way and his writing was unique. Also, his poem is a big ironic in the setting. In the poem Ginsberg was addressed to someone not present Walt Whiteman. He is speaking in the first person to show the experiences of shopping and also to involve the reader to follow the footsteps of Walt Whiteman. In the poem there is a line “The lost America of love past blue automobiles in driveways”, this line means that in that time most Americans had a blue automobile in their driveway. That is true because most Americans lived in the suburbs after all. Besides, Americans lost themselves in the love for new technology such as blue automobile.
