The lottery is set in a seemingly nice town, on a nice summer’s day. The story opens with children playing and adults talking as they gather about ordinary things. They are all gathering to await the lottery. Soon the suspense begins to build with the plot as you begin to feel the tense within the town. The description of the lottery box stressed its withered appearance and that despite the fact that many things have changed the lottery has been going on for some time as this isn’t the first box that created. Nervousness builds amongst the town’s people as their names are being called. One whispered about how other towns have stopped the tradition, maybe hoping they could finally put an end to their practice. Yet a family’s name was called,
