As something to start with, the concept of Imperialism is where one person rules over a massive amount of land. To clarify, Imperialism came from the Latin word “Imperium”, which means to rule over a vast country. Even though Imperialism involves itself with sizable territory; the whole of it is spreading your power throughout different countries using different means. There are also different forms of Imperialism used by different countries. For instance, Britain used trading to maintain power. Spreading power is just one of the things that Imperialism is shaped with, it has an important systematic purpose. Money, land, the spread of religion, all of these were gates opened by Imperialism. How the war ended was at the Battle of Ulundi which was a British victory. Since the movie was based on the British Empire, there is a lot of references to Imperialism. During the war, Imperialism in Great Britain at the time was a major thing as there were marriages going around such as the marriage of the third son of Victoria to the Princess of Prussia. In fact, the movie is solely based on Chard’s account written to queen Victoria in 1879. Moving on from Great Britain, the movie Zulu is a depiction of the Battle of Rorke’s Drift in January of 1879. The movie starts out with a battle, the Battle of Isandlwana to be exact. It shows the British fending off against many Zulu warriors only to be brutally defeated. In the end of the battle, you see the Zulu warriors pick up the guns of the now dead British soldiers. After the battle the scene switches to a Zulu wedding where a man by the name of Otto Witt is a guest.
The Zulu warriors inform the King, named Cetewayo, about their victory. Otto and his daughter leave, or at least try to, when a Zulu man tries to hold Otto’s daughter captive. That doesn’t end too well because he is killed. In further time, John Chard is trying to retreat from the nearing Zulu army. He later realizes that running is no longer an option and takes a
