The author throws out words such as darkest and deep which give you feelings of nervousness. The atmosphere of the poem is dreary and dark as it gets deeper into it. The beginning stanza of the poem explains that he has stopped by a house in the middle of the forest and he looks into the woods seeing them fill with snow. In the next stanza he explains that he is into the woods with nothing around him to protect him from the dangers of “the darkest evening of the year”(Frost 9). The stanza continuing from the last is entirely about how he can't hear anything else but the wind and he explains how empty the woods are. The very last stanza explains how he moves on in the forest, as he cannot sit in the lovely forest for much time because he must go. There are four stanzas and they all slowly lead up to the fact that once you are on a journey you must not stop. At the end of the poem it's stated twice that “and miles to go before I sleep” (Frost 15-16). This is said twice due to the fact that it is dreaded that he must move on but it is just something that has to happen. This poem rhymes which gives it more of a flow throughout. It adds to the poem's meaning because the poem itself is very dark and it makes the poem more calm than it really
