In the short story “Marble Champ” by Gary Soto teaches us a lesson that if you work hard you will succeed. A scientist named Albert Einstein once said, “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” In the beginning of the story, we notice how Lupe learns that hard work pays off. For instance, she started doing push-ups on her fingers every day which made her fingers stronger and stronger. She also started squeezing erasers as hard as she could to build muscle in her thumb. After doing these things she got ten times better at shooting marbles. Furthermore, she started doing push ups on her fingers to strengthen her wrists!
