The three movies – Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, and The Green Berets – are all movies based on the same historical event – the Vietnam war and US’s involvement in it. Yet, they all presented us with different and narrative point of view and authority figures in order to paint their individual values. The movies’ most obvious differences lie within the choice of their narrative point of view. The Green Beret, the earliest one, was directed by John Wayne and he also starred in the leading role. Wayne’s authority and influence in the 1960s was similar to the influence of Tom Hanks in the 21st Century.
Districting the New Segregation? Education has been a major influence on government policy and social standards concerning American youth. With hard work and education, one can better themselves and open up more opportunities for financial and social success. Waiting for Superman directed by Oscar winner, Davis Guggenheim, counters that the current education system is failing students by limiting their upward mobility, particularly among minority and low income groups. The documentary advocates for a radical change in the modern education system, modeled after charter school curriculums.
All Quiet on the Western Front tells the story of Paul Baumer, a German young man who is drafted into the army with some of his high school friends. Unfortunately, he and his friends have unrealistic ideas about what they are going to face while serving. The movie shows the tragedy of war through the emotional connection characters have, and focuses on the experiences had by the newly enlisted group of friends. I both enjoyed and did not enjoy the movie All Quiet on the Western Front. The parts that I enjoyed included the detail and historical accuracy which could be lined up with the information we have been learning in class.
In the film adaptation of the novel, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, some of the original aspects that make the novel so timeless are not included in the movie. However, due to the vastly different medium that film is and the abstractness of the novel, it makes sense why some things would have to change in order for the story to transfer to the screen successfully. While many die-hard fans of the novel denounce the film version of their beloved story, others celebrate the presence of Adams’ wit in the movie especially through the cartoon representations of the guide entries. First of all, the Hitchhiker’s Guide is pictured much differently in the movie than in the novel.
Glory: Directed by Edward Zwick, Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group, 1989. 122 Minutes Reviewed by Mike Edward Zwick’s Glory is a movie in which the balance between entertainment and history was perfectly managed. He uses the letters sent by contemporary Col. Robert G. Shaw to his wealthy family back in Massachusetts as the historical foundation of the movie while imagining conversations between characters. Through Col. Shaw’s eye, we are able to uncover the birth, the development, and the end of the 54th Massachusetts Regiment, the first colored regiment fought in Civil War. Just like any other war movie, Glory has several battle scenes that were unpleasantly bloody, yet they managed to stay authentic.
Typical human behavioral in my opinion. My last similar event I say had to be the stormtroopers behaviors towards the group. They reminded me of the police and how they carry myself in society. Things in Star Wars, of course, aren 't real and straight up fantasies. Like Chewbacca a big foot monkey-like creature talking and everyone in the movies can understand him but we can 't. Cars are foreign in this movie.

The first two films that featured computer generated images with significance were Tron (1982) and The Last Starfighter (1984). They were commercial failures, leading to most directors to relegate this kind of images to images to think that computers had created them, even if they were not in reality. The first character truly created in CGI was created by Pixar for the film The Young Sherlock Holmes in 1985 (not counting the simple polyhedron character Tron binary answering yes and no). This consisted of the representation of a knight in a window, whose glass out of the window, making it the gentleman depicted life of its own and walk alone. These computer "photo realistic" would not persuade the film industry until 1989 generated images,

Throughout life we are told to express our individuality and swim against the stream of the general population to put emphasis on the characteristics that make us, in short, individuals. Cherishing what makes an individual special and different is what establishes roots in creativity and self expression, however there is a forced false sense of comradery in today’s society that takes the form of involvement with the masses; peer pressure forces many people to fall into the mold of an average character. The Academy award winning film, “The Incredibles” displays the themes of expressing one’s true self and special qualities, and in contrast repression by society to fit a basic mold. These themes are elaborated on through the development of the main characters and expressed further through the supporting roles and their dialogue and endeavors.
Guardians of the Galaxy is a Marvel team super hero film. Nonetheless, it is controversial to the audience whether it fits the sub-genre of a team-up film such as The Avengers. Due to the characters, none of them have their individual movie like Iron Man. However, James Gunn uses points of view and actor’s acting to enhance the intimacy among the characters that makes this movie fits into the team super hero film genre. In addition, Gunn uses makeups to not make any of the roles too standout because they all have unique appearances that balance out on screen.
