There is a new movie out in theaters. An action-packed movie where a young African American and his city block of misfits take on rapid dinosaurs in the driveways of their own homes. Sounds like a normal movie but this movie is not focused on the “color” of the boy but on the actions of the neighborhood. The stereotypes of colored men and women in the film industry are beautifully destroyed in the free verse poem “Dinosaurs in the Hood” as Danez Smith makes a trailer of words for this movie, just waiting to be released. Smith is a colored queer poet who is known for his fiery political poems that took Youtube by storm.
“BLUE – WHITE –BLUE – WHITE,” shouts from the stands at the most awaited game of the year, the homecoming game. With support filling the stands from students, parents and fans alike the 2013 Rattler football team takes the field. To be a good caretaker, owners need to learn the bearded dragon’s behavior. When you get a bearded dragon, they will not be nice from the beginning so “to appear even more menacing, the Bearded Dragon may also "gape," or open his mouth very wide. This can certainly make him look more aggressive, since his mouth is quite large. Another way Dragons show dominance, is to bob their heads” (Foster and Smith). Knowing this could prevent confusion of when a beardie is trying be the leader.
Do you value the people and places around you? If you do, your milieu can influence your life in a gratifying way. In Papa’s Parrot by Cynthia Rylant, Harry’s father, Mr. Tillian, valued his son, his parrot, and his candy shop. In Papa’s Parrot, the possessions and beings Mr. Tillian most valued were his son, his shop, and his parrot.
In "Strange Creatures," Susan Blackmore mentions the notion of "Successful Memes" and "Unsuccessful Memes," but does not go in detail to explain what really makes a meme successful or unsuccessful. However, through Malcolm Gladwell 's "Small Change" Why the revolution will not be tweeted," we are able to interpret in detail that what really distinguishes a successful meme from an unsuccessful meme. Gladwell 's essay provides solid evidence of successful memes when he mentions the Greensboro lunch counter encounter and the lost cell phone case. Furthermore, the phenomena of "Strong-ties" and "Weak-ties" help us better understand why memes are successful in being transmitted. Along with that, the timing of carrying out a meme is significant

The author's literary techniques used in "The Rattler" portray a feeling of sadness and regret. A human has come across a snake, in the snake’s natural habitat. For the sake of human safety the snake must die. The reader becomes sympathetic for the man and his choice to save himself and others.
Narrative point of view can express a different perspective to the reader by presenting experience, voice, and setting. Howler monkeys are one of the largest New World monkeys found in South and Central America, more specifically found in tropical forests of eastern Bolivia, northern Argentina, southern Brazil, and Paraguay. They live in large social groups that contains all of the family members such as parents, siblings, aunts and other relatives. They form a family of 8 or more members that stay and survive together. A unique fact about their group structure is that some of the male and female will leave the group they were born in and move on to join a total new group, with the majority of their lives growing up is spent in groups they weren’t born in or related to. Male and female howler monkeys are quite different in their appearance.
Lucius Theron had always wanted two things and only two things his whole life. To be a hero, a shining example of justice incarnate and a much more simple dream. He wanted to punch a dolphin without fear of being judged. He had always cared more than he should have about how others thought about him as well as being your typical OCD 'why can't I get my hair the right way' kinda guy. Luckily he didn't really have to worry about the whole others opinions thing any longer since 3 years ago when he graduated from knight school, won the tournament of ages, and became 'Hero of the seven realms, upholder of justice, and defender of innocent' and was immediately held in the highest standards by most everyone.
The making of movies, or the concept of it, has been around since the beginning of the 18th century. The lens of the camera has captured some of the most beautiful things, but also the most prejudice. Stereotypes of races, ethnicities, and gender have always been around but were widely considered acceptable in the films of that era. Almost as long as there have been people filming, there have been people fighting for equality to be presented on the big screen. Danez Smith is one of these modern fighters in his free verse poem “Dinosaurs in the Hood.”
In The Rattler the speaker’s rhetorical strategy is to use pathos to make the audience feel sympathy for his/her actions and to also use logos to give good reasons for his/her actions. The speaker is justified in killing the rattlesnake because he/she was protecting the lives of others while being courageous at the same time. In the third paragraph the author uses pathos when he/ she says: “But I reflected that there were children, dogs, horses at the ranch, as well as men and women like shod; my duty, plainly, was to the kill the snake.”
