The short stories from the Mediterranean were very interesting and gave me a more cultural awareness about the time periods. The short story I gravitated toward the most is “Torn Lace” by Emilia Pardo Bazan for she expresses her feminist worldview over a verity of topics. In this particular short story, she expresses that women do not necessarily need to marry to be considered a successful woman. However, Bazan does convey the importance of friendship and community among women.
