Benjamin Franklin, a former scientist once said, “When the well is dry, we will know the worth of water.” Salamanca Tree Hiddle was a normal thirteen year-old girl, with a normal little family that lived in Bybanks, Kentucky. With Sal being only Thirteen, her mother mysteriously disappears, leaving Sal and her father blind in the dark. Her father decides to move Sal and him to Euclid, Ohio and Sal does not know how to react, leaving her in a mist of regret, sadness, and ornery. The major theme in the novel, Walk Two Moons, by Sharon Creech is that you should be great full for the things that you have before they're gone, a theme that the readers can find and learn from throughout the entire novel. Later in the story, Sal thinks that Phoebe is brave for taking action and reflects on what she should have done, “From her locker, she took the evidence she had brought from home, and we ran the six blocks to the police station. I am not exactly sure why I went along with Phoebe.
