In William F. Buckley’s essay “Why Don’t We Complain?” he illustrates several uncomfortable situations he was involved in where no one complained. According to Buckley American people everywhere have refrained from speaking up. I strongly agree with him. We the American people don’t complain in situations where complaining is acceptable. To begin with, cable companies such as Comcast feel threaten by the rapid growth in video streaming services such as Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. Cable companies have seen a significant drop in their subscriptions. Therefore, they monopolize internet usage and charge customers outrageous fees. Just recently they added a data cap of 300gigabits to Florida residents, with a surcharge of 10 dollars per 50 additional gigabits used. This will be a catastrophe to streaming services and cable clients alike. Another enormous issue Americans should be complaining about, is the food children are being fed in Schools. More than one-third of American kids are obese or overweight. Nutrient-rich food are essential to mental and physical health. If our children are the most important investment for our futures, how we expect them to perform at their best with inadequate meals. Medical, home, and car insurance continue to rise on a yearly basis with little to no reason given by the insurance companies. Not only is this a huge red flag but they are also very poorly regulated, if regulated at all due to lobbyist having congress and other politicians on payroll.
