What is your definition of a sport? My definition of a sport has to have the three main parts to sports, which are: physical prowess, agility and mental strength. People often think that only physical prowess is the key to sports. Physical prowess is superior ability, skill, or strength. It is not the only key to sports. You need mental strength and agility.Mental strength deals with your brain strength, and agility is the ability to change the body's position efficiently.People say you don’t need any of that. In my opinion I think you need both. In the story “What Could Be Better Than A TOUCHDOWN?” by Kelefa Sanneh, and the story “Why We Run” by Bernd Heinrich, it shows it all. In the text it states, “Dwight Lowery was waiting for the right time of the game. Finally, he follows the ball and next thing you know he intercepts it. He dashes twenty-six yards into the end zone.” (Sanneh pg.57). The author sets the scene as he describes the play Lowery made. Dwight Lowery was using both Physical Prowess and agility. The author is saying how everyone wants to be first. In order to be first, you probably need mental strength, agility, and physical prowess. You need the mental strength to tell yourself you can do it. You need the agility to be able to keep up the paste. Lastly you need the physical prowess to control your breathing, and being able to run fast.In addition the text says, “... we are inherently more like wolves than lapdogs because the communal chase is part of our biological makeup.” (Heinrich pg.65) The author assert that wolves chase prey instinctively, similar to humans casing dreams instinctively. In this scene you would need mental strength to keep your mind on following your dreams. At last, the text states, “Most of us chase after ‘antelopes’ and sometimes we catch them. Often we don’t. But why do we bother to try?” (Heinrich pg.65). The author uses the metaphor of the antelope to explain that running is about chasing dreams. To chase your dreams the big thing you need is mental strength. You need mental strength to give yourself courage through ups and downs of the dream that y0u are trying to
