The Amazing Louis Zamperini

Louis Zamperini was captured by the Japanese during World War 2 and had to fight for his life to survive. Although Louie was a troublemaker when he was younger, he always ran to his fullest. He was one of the top runners and got to go to the Olympics. The book Unbroken was written by Laura Hillenbrand and my two traits about Louie are rebellious and determined. I want the readers who read this to know what Louis had go through and that nobody should ever go through that. My first trait about Louie Zamperini is rebellious. Louie was a little kid when he started to get into mischief. “In 1919, when two-year- old Louie was sick with pneumonia, he climbed out his bedroom window, descended on story, and went on a naked dash through town with a policeman chasing him and a crowd watching in amazement” (6 & 7). Louie and the POWS were in a camp called Naoetsu. “Louie could take no more...He joined about a dozen officers in a secret meeting...They decided to kill the Bird” (215). Others and himself were planning to kill the Bird but when they found out the war was over the Bird left and nobody knew where he was. Zamperini finally got to go home after weeks when they found out the war was over. It was night and he was sleeping in his bed. “The last barricade within him fell…By day, he obsessed about the Bird” (255). When Louis got home to his family, he was having nightmares and the Bird would always be in them when he was sleeping. In his house he was sleeping next to his wife Cynthia. “He saw himself finding the Bird and overpowering him, strangling him slowly, making im feel all the pain, fear, and helplessness that Louie felt...He was going to kill the Bird” (256). Louis, when he was having nightmares he would try to kill the Bird even though he wasn’t really there and he was actually strangling his wife. Louie would also go out every night and get wasted at the
