Logic Debrief: Analytical Essay The essay type our group presented was the analytical essay, and we would make reference to the sample essay titled, “Why Are Finland Schools Successful” by Lynn Hancock during our presentation. Each presenter had to discuss and display the following topics: thesis and development of the argument, flow chart describing the sequence of the argument, conventions, content of essay, and present a parallel essay. For me, I presented a parallel essay to the Finland essay, and had to discuss the similarities found between the two. Since I was presenting a parallel analytical essay, I had to talk about the similarities that were found in both the Finland essay and the police interrogations essay titled as, “Just Confessions”. At the end of the entire seminar, there were the FAQs and our group was asked six different questions, one per presenter. The questions included the following: difference between analytical and persuasive essay, explanation of specialized terms, use of anecdotes, an analytical essay explaining a process, maintaining an objective tone, and the location of the thesis. I had to answer the question asking how one is able to maintain an objective tone in an analytical essay and frankly, I was unable to answer this question to the best of my abilities. I believe that I probably would have done better on the question about specialized terms, but that wasn’t the case. In response to my question, the best way to answer it was to make reference to the essay and what Hancock did to maintain an objective and logical tone. Ultimately, in order to maintain an objective tone, there should be no use of personal pronouns in the essay and there should be a presentation of data, facts, and even some specialized
