Last night on February 4, 1787, General Benjamin Lincoln attacked members of the Shays’ Rebellion, and successfully captured 150 of the rebels. As a result, Daniel Shays left Massachusetts and fled to Vermont. Shays Rebellion was an armed rebellion consisting of 1,200 angry farmers from Massachusetts. They caused major chaos in this state. On December 26, 1786 Daniel Shays and the rebels revolted in Springfield, Massachusetts insisting that the state legislature address their issues, such as lack of money.
In 1786, Daniel Shays, like other farmers, was with his inability to pay high debts. So, out of anger, formed a group of farmers who were frustrated too. The national government didn’t have a right or means to raise any army, so the governor of Massachusett formed an army on his own. New laws were drafted, which offered welcome relief to all of the debtors. But in the end, the rebellion helped highlight issues with the articles of confederation.
As of recently, there have been reports of an increase in taxes to pay off debts in Massachusetts. A huge number of individuals who couldn 't pay these taxes are farmers, and they ended up finding themselves going to court, then to prison. This issue had led to the start of the Shay 's Rebellion, which was a fight for change between the farmers and the legislatures. I believe that the farmers were making the right decision to oppose the government because of the unfair laws that were placed.

When it comes to grading America on Tyranny, over all I would give it a B+. But if I were comparing it to the world, I would give us an A. We have done a good job at keeping tyranny down. One of the most known uprisings in history is the Shays’ Rebellion during 1787 and 1787. This was an armed uprising in Massachusetts (mostly in and around Springfield). Revolutionary War veteran Daniel Shays led four thousand rebels (called Shaysites) in an uprising against perceived economic and civil rights injustices.
External factors: One of the external factors was Shays Rebellion. In 1786, a group of farmers is formed under the revolutionary war of Shays. Dickerson, Reed (1977). They were protesting the constitution of Massachusetts and holding the farms for the non payments of debt. Their protest badly attacks the constitution.
What would happen if the original thirteen colonies never united? What if each state only looked for themselves in a loosely united federation? This chaos is what caused the farmer Daniel Shays to start his rebellion against Massachusetts in 1786. Only three years earlier, the newly created United States of America had won the Revolutionary War. In order to govern the states, the Continental Congress, the only federal assembly governing the US, drafted the Articles of Confederation.
Under the Constitution, states and the government both have different duties and both shared large responsibilities. When events such as Shay’s Rebellion occurred, the lack of national power prevented quick and efficient responses to problems in the nation. These issues highlighted the inefficiency of the Articles of Confederation and the need for a national army that could quickly resolve issues. Each state was dealing with its own problems and searching for its own solutions. As Abraham Lincoln later said, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.”
There are quite a few people who argue that the Articles of Confederation are unacceptable for the United States, however there are people who question whether they are or are not unnaceptable. These people think that since there was no single leader to tell them what to do, since each state had one vote in congress, and since the congress was allowed to deal with westered lands, that the articles were acceptable. “[The articles of confederation] had no executive or judicial branch, the Confederation could not levy taxes, [and] all states had to agree before the Articles could be changed…” Regardless, the Articles of Confederation were unsuitable for the United States because there was no judicial or executive branches, all the states had

Considering the causes that led to the American Revolution the Articles of Confederation were a logical form of government for the revolutionaries to adopt because under the Articles of Confederation the states would be independent. With them being independent they could do anything they wanted, meaning they could make their own choices about what happens within their own state. Having Congress serve as the last resort on appeals means the states get to choose the outcome of disputes. Congress also had to maintain the treaties and alliances, army, and regulate money. The central government lacked the ability to control taxes, regulate the commerce and anything else that might have led to creation of new laws.
The Articles of Confederation were a document seen as the “first” constitution of the United States. This document granted the new national government power to control the military, declare war, and create treaties between the states. However, the Articles had holes in it considering the government did not have the power to tax, create laws without at least nine states’ approval, or change the Articles of Confederation without a unanimous vote. This means that the country soon fell into debt and petty arguments between state, the new government had no control. It was time for a change.
