The Seven Habits Profile allowed me to look at what my strengths are; I will use the Situational Leadership theory to evaluate my strengths. This leadership theory was developed by Paul Hersey and Ken Blanchard. Paul Hersey has defined situational leadership as being about, “adapting the directive and supportive behaviors you use to match the readiness of others to perform specific tasks or functions.” (Hersey, 2009) My strengths are cooperating with others, empowering others, and flexibility. One of my strengths based on the Seven Habits Profile is the ability to cooperate with people to benefit all. This strength fits into the situational leadership theory since one of the points is to the ability to “diagnose the Performance Readiness of the person you are trying to influence.” (Hersey, 2009) Our organization is currently going through a huge change in systems, the EPRS, is very complex in nature, I have a good handle on the system and I am often asked to help others that don’t have such a great handle. “Providing support for employees based on their needs can provide a motivating environment. Employees receive the coaching and support necessary to perform their duties, which builds morale among workers. The hands-off approach a situational leader employs with highly skilled and committed workers can motivate the employees to work at their full potential.” (Kelchner, 2017).
