The article “8 Dining Trends That Will Define 2017” by Bill Addison informs the public of new food trends that will become in effect in 2017. A few of the main trends that the article discusses are, pasta, French restaurants, black walnuts, and crab rangoon. Pasta is making a huge comeback in American meals and dishes. The article states that eating pasta has never been more reassuring, meaning that it is back and even more popular than before. More than 23 restaurants in the 2016 Eater awards had a spotlight of pasta as the main dish. Now more than ever almost every meal has a type of pasta in American culture. In the article it claims, “We’ve entered a golden age of pasta in America” (Addison 1). French restaurants are becoming more popular in America. Fresh European cuisine is making its way to American menus and it is most welcomed. Restaurants with main heritage, language and dishes are becoming more and more popular in the U.S.. These restaurants are called Gaelic restaurants, mostly known for the foreign culture. After WWII America fell in love with the French cuisine, because it made them feel sophisticated. French dining disappeared from American restaurants during the American food revolution, leaving the exquisite French culture “stuffy” and “stodgy”.
