Larry Piper Mr. Reuben 11.20.14 Beat It By: Michael Jackson The song beat it is about is about two gangs trying to fight each other, and Michael Jackson is trying to break them up, and make them leave. And telling them to beat it, or leave this town. so there are no more fights. “They told him not to come around here, dont want to see your face, better disappear.” (Line 1-2, Stanza 1) A person is hated in a certain town, when the person arrives to that town people who dislike that person are getting ready for a fight, or some sort of standoff. Michael Jackson is saying that he doesn’t want a fight in this town, and doesn’t want to see violence, so he is telling the person who is causing the hate to beat it, or in other words leave. Jackson also says that there words are really clear, which means that the town is threatening the person/group. The author is also trying to say that, this person must be doing, is causing tension. When someone is told here not welcome here that means that, they don’t belong there, and they must of done something wrong to earn that title. …show more content…

This man is trying to show Jackson’s gang that he’s not afraid, and even though the man isn’t welcome, in the presence of the author’s gang, he wants to prove that he isn’t afraid, and he doesn’t need to be told what to do, he can make his own choices. “You want to stay alive, better do what you can, beat it, beat it.”(Line 18) The author, is saying that the man’s choices, won’t be taken softly, and that if he continues on with his ignorance to Jackson’s warnings, he won’t be taken home, he will be murdered. And Jackson is warning this guy, and even though the author is not on the man’s side, he doesn’t want the man to be killed, Jackson wants the man to leave, and be gone.
