Slavery- Nat Turner
Almost everyone knows about slavery but they only know the good side. There is more to the stories than escaping. There is a dark side to follow every sunshine. This story is not the kind you would tell for a bedtime story. Slavery is not all rainbows and unicorns. Here is the gruesome story of Nat Turner.
Nat Turner was born on October 2, 1800. He was born in Virginia on Benjamin Turner’s plantation. Benjamin let him learn to read and write. A lot of people called him a prophet because he could talk about things that happened before he was born. Turner read the bible and he was very religious. Him and his family that he had a great purpose.

He started with killing Travis’s family and recruiting even more people. They went and killed plantation families and took their stuff to fight other plantation owners. Along the way they collected horses and guns. They went further and then ran into some trouble. They found armed white guys and a plantation near Jerusalem. The problem soon turned into chaos, causing Turner to flee into the woods.
Turner was later found and brought to court where he plead not guilty. He confessed to the crime and was sentenced to be hung. On November 11, 1831 Nat Turner was hung and many of his supporters were sentenced to the same fate. In the end slavery laws got more strict and less slaves tried to revolt like Turner did.
In the history book they tell the story about the rebellion. The only thing different is that they left out how people were killed. The book said he killed white people but never said he stole the first families guns and used them to kill all the other whites. The book said that he was executed but it never said that he and all of his accomplices were hung. The book told the OK parts but they left out the gruesome
