1. - I found this story quite saddening, yet truth-telling about the cruelties of war. In particular, it was tragic to read about the progressive despair and isolation that surfaces between Mark Fossie and Mary Anne Bell. This provided me an insight into just how “dangerous” and “deadly” of an effect the war can have on a soldier mentally. Moreover, given how momentarily Mary Anne’s life and identity were altered after entering the war. - When reading this story, I noticed a strong connection in its theme to “Dulce et Decorum Est”. Mainly because both pieces suggest how “deadly” the war is in fighting against each soldier’s individuality.
