The short story “The Fog Horn”, by Ray Bradbury, should not be removed from the middle school curriculum because it shows suspense through the use of foreshadowing , metaphors used to connect character's, and the reader can also develop mood through the description of the environment and simile. Bradbury can teach the reader and hook the reader through the use of foreshadowing when waiting for the monster to arrive. The metaphors can also be shown very strongly in the short story to connect the characters, for they take a major part in the story such as when describing where Johny and McDunn are in the sea.
