A Christmas Carol Speech
In this thrilling and unexpected adventure of the Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, an old man named Ebenezer Scrooge visits three ghosts that change his perspective on life forever.
It was the night of Christmas eve and grumpy old Scrooge was alone in his house, until suddenly he was not. A ghost appeared in front of him, this was not any ghost, it was his deceased friend Marley, here to tell him that if he did not change he would end up like him. Marley informed Scrooge that he would be haunted by three ghosts, The Ghost of Christmas Past, The Ghost of Christmas Present and The Ghost of Christmas Future, these ghosts would show Scrooge how he needs to change before his time is up. The change Scrooge showed is realistic because, Scrooge, from the beginning started to change with his little emotions he shows and towards the end he starts to believe it. …show more content…

For example, Scrooge knew he needed to change when he realized this, “ ‘Spirit!’ said Scrooge , shuddering from head to foot. ‘ I see, I see. The case of this unhappy man might be my own…’” (Dickens 100). This quote shows us that when he realized it was him being treated like that and how nobody cared about him and gives no respect, he knows in his heart that that is actually what people think about him. Another example is when Scrooge starts to participate and show emotion towards things he never thought he would, for example “ ‘Spirit said Scrooge, with an interest he had never felt before, ‘ tell me if Tiny Tim will live’ “ (Dickens 70). This small detail shows us that Scrooge had cared for someone that he never thought he would, and that interested him. In conclusion, Scrooge’s change is portrayed real in many situations throughout the story and his journey, this shows us that he is truly starting to
