The primary goal of the advertising industry is to maximize profit. They take advantage of the consumer's insecurities, desires, and susceptibilities to increase their product's demand and profitability. Advertisers cater to its critics, advocates, and the general population alike, by fabricating desires that penetrate our subconscious, and slowly manipulate their minds. Catchy jingles and attractive packaging is only the surface of a ploy to increase their revenue using bandwagon, claims, association, and promotion tactics. In addition, advertisers primarily target teens, who are not only vulnerable to their crude tactics, but have a significant influence over their parent's pocketbooks. Every year a new version of the iPhone comes out and Apple claims that the new version has revolutionary modifications that will drastically improve your cellular experience. The anticipation for the release of a new phone alone attracts a lot of customers. Then on the release date, Apple only only guarantees a limited availability so the phones are perceived as more valuable and the company receives free publicity from the sheer number of people waiting in line outside the store. In addition, Apple tries to convey a sense of sophistication and superiority within every model to make the phone not only a smart purchase, but an attractive one. Moreover, the iPhones have glass screens that easily shatter to force people to replace their phones. However, the iPhones are only compatible with Apple services so switching phones would in convince customers thus almost guaranteeing customer loyalty. Their advertising, manufacturing, and distribution processes have made Apple a very successful company. They don't just promote Gatorade, they sell the vision of feeling young and athletic and winning. Furthermore, they make the customer feel in control of their purchase by offering various products to cater to their customers needs and use attractive colors to stimulate the customer's desire for the product.
