The Vietnam War was Vietnam against Vietnam. This separated people because in Vietnam at the 17th parallel all Vietnam was divided. There was North Vietnam who was communist and South Vietnam who were non communist. This not only divided people in Vietnam but also in America. People either wanted or did not want the war.
The United States did not fully go into the war until 1964. During this time the United States was also being divided.
Americans were divided into the war because some people were for the war and some were also strongly against. During this time, songs impacted people's opinion on the war.
In the song "I Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag" McDonald was against the war. This song was created in October of 1965 by Joe McDonald.
