Ancient Celtic druidism is believed to begin around 2200 B.C. This is a rough estimate since the druids were forbidden to write anything down and did not have a divine text such as the bible. Instead the druids used oral tradition to pass down their traditions, beliefs and methods to future generations. Since the druids themselves were forbidden to have a written text the religion is secondhand knowledge from the Roman, Greeks and Christians. Druids viewed of the otherworld were that it was accessible while still on earth through meditation. The otherworld. was viewed as a transition place. Celtic druids believed that the human soul was immortal.
