During the entire time up till her death, Vera was almost in a trance-like state. Almost blinded by what she wanted,
Vera speaks that, “She’d pretend to swim out after him. But she’d arrive too late… no one would ever expect it.” She even goes as far as to say, “That’s what the murder was, as easy as that!” At the end of the story, Vera hysterically hangs herself on a noose.
Bad things happen to good people. A Series of Unfortunate Events, by Lemony Snicket, is a story about the orphans that are in a bad situation. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire parents died in a fire while Count Olaf is trying to steal their fortune. They escaped Count Olaf and got to safety for a little. They learned that bad things happen to good people too.
This is a sentence that shows Vera blaming Philip for the death of Blore. Towards the end when Vera and Philip Lombard are the only two left on the island, Vera knows that Philip Lombard has the gun. Vera picks Philip Lombard’s pocket and grabs the gun, pointing it at Lombard. As he tries to get the gun back, Vera fires the gun, killing Lombard. Vera was also reliable to the other guests.
During the investigation, the main suspect was found to be Lizzie because of her confusing statements regarding where she was at the time of the murder that did not make complete sense. For example, first she “stated that she was looking for fishing equipment in the barn, but then changed her story by suggesting she may have been in the yard or perhaps she was picking fruit” (Johnson 1:164). These statements by Lizzie leads to a conclusion that she was guilty of the murder of her parents. A question that was asked to her, how did she come across her father’s dead body. In response, she first said that she found her father’s dead body while coming from the kitchen; later she changed her response and said that she found her father’s dead body while coming from the living room, even after that she said that she found her father’s dead body while returning from the garage (quoted in Schuetz 70).

In Agatha Christie's book And Then There Were None, Emily Brent is a character that is deceptive because, although appearing to be a fine person with strong morals and a commitment to the bible, Emily Brent is actually a self-righteous murderer who manipulates the bible. Emily Brent comes across as a pleasant yet wary individual. On the surface, she appears to be mature and polite. She gives the impression of being a religious woman because she frequently reads and quotes from her Bible. As indicated in Chapter 1 Section IV, “Enveloped in an aura of righteousness and unyielding principles, Miss Brent sat in her crowded third-class carriage and triumphed over its discomfort and its heat”(Christie).

Since 1914, Ben Franklin has been the face of the one hundred dollar bill, which is a bill associated with wealth. In Cormac McCarthy’s novel No Country for Old Men, set in the 1980s, a man by the name of Llewelyn Moss comes across the remnants of a drug deal gone wrong, which leads him to a satchel filled with drug money. That money was worth millions of dollars, and the bills used were hundred dollar ones.
The novel No Country For Old Men, is written by the author Cormac McCarthy. The novel is about a man named Moss who finds money in a desert. Moss is chased by multiple different drug cartel groups as well as a very skilled assassin named Chigurh. McCarthy takes the reader on a long journey into his story on the run. Towards the end Moss is assassinated by Chigurh.
Agatha Christie builds suspense alot in her book And Then There Were None, but one of the best ways would be the characters and how you watch them lose their minds. After Rogers is murdered, Vera, while standing in the yard, cries out in a high shrill voice, shaken with wild bursts of laughter (Christie 189). When Vera did that it freaked everybody out, then they wanted breakfast, like how could you eat after seeing Rogers and his head split open. After she cried out Wargrave thought “The sane well-balanced girl had gone mad before their eyes” (Christie 189).
Vera has a very abrupt personality she is upfront ad she will make sure she gets what she wants. Vera has no shame except for one thing. “I hate Mrs. Harding, Mack;...”(Kesey 142). Vera does not wants to be associated with her husband. She corrects people when they call her by her last name in the quote above she corrects McMurphy when he calls her Mrs. Harding.
Blore and Vera, because they were both guilty prior to their sentencing, but lied to get out of punishment, meaning they should have been prosecuted beforehand, regardless. Justice Wargrave’s enforced plans against Vera Claythorne are justified, because Vera is a criminal who killed an innocent child, and then lied her way out of execution. Despite Vera’s appearance as a straight-lighthearted girl, Vera was absolutely deserving of punishment, due to her criminal actions against a warm hearted boy she once looked after, Cyril Hamilton. Cyril’s uncle and Vera’s ex lover, Hugo Hamilton, was entitled to a hefty inheritance, but when Cyril was born, Cyril was entitled to the money instead. This meant that Hugo would not receive the money he needed to financially support Vera.
I’ll talk to your mother on the beach and distract her attention.” Vera Claythorne pretended to run after Cyril to save him, but instead, she watched him drown. No relationship is worth murdering anyone, especially not a pure, sinless child. Vera Claythorne’s decision to let Cyril drown led to her death and retribution. After Cyril’s death, Hugo became distant from Ms. Claythorne.
