Parents influence their children in countless ways. Parents introduce their children to the world as they see it. Parent teach their children what's right and wrong. Just like in the book “And Then There Were None” by Agatha Christie, Emily Brent's parents affected her life. Emily’s “..father, a Colonel of the old school, had been particular about deportment”(Christie 7). Emily's father must have been a strong christian because Emily is very religious. Emily Caroline Brent is a 65 year old poor but proper old lady whose mission in life is to make sure that everyone is following her precise interpretation of the Bible. Mrs.Brent tends to judge what others are doing and thinks everyone nowadays finds a easy way out. A while after the guest calm down from the accusations, the first of many murders occur. Anthony Marston is poisoned to death. One of the guest at soldier island is a murderer and plans to kill everyone on the island according to the nursery rhyme “ten little soldier boys”. The other guest question Emily's tranquilness about all the deaths arising around her. “Dying?But she wasn't going to die!The others would die -yes-but not she, Emily Brent...She had never done anything to be ashamed of and so, naturally, she wasn't going to die”(Christie 193). Emily dreams of Beatrice Taylor outside pressing her face against the window moaning asking to be let in. While clearing breakfast dishes Emily Brent feels a little giddy, she sits to wait for the feeling to pass. While sitting she sees a bee. And as she starts to think about Beatrice Taylor the bee stings her causing her to lose her concentration. Which then gives the murder the chance to kill her with the hypodermic syringe. Emily Brent was murdered by a hypodermic syringe filled with most likely potassium
