The case of Andrea Yates is an uncommon case for people who made such a crime; she was guilty of drowning her five children one at time. She actually had a good life, a successful husband who worked in NASA, living in a bus then in a house raising her children’s, her goal was to be a successful mother, and she was actually a perfectionist in high school; going to nursery school studying, taking care of kids, etc. I believe that the causes of Andrea Yates’ murder of her children were mental problems including all the biopsychosocial approach which are emotions, and behaviors, social and cultural factors, maybe she had a condition called postpartum psychosis, meaning a person who sometimes gets this hallucinations, confusion, and doesn’t what she/he is doing. Furthermore, maybe she couldn’t take care of her five children and so a way to release the depression or the struggle she had to deal each day was to kill them or another cause was when she met Berneki, a religious man who taught her religious things, and that may be one of the causes in her private mental functioning; people in the neighborhood couldn’t believe what she had done to her own children neither the polices. She didn’t went out of home, no friends who could she socialize with or call to visit her at home, perhaps she felt like being trap been on the same place, stuck with her emotions and feelings, and didn’t have anyone by her side who can talk and express what she was feeling.
