Insanity of Andrea Yates Andrea Yates was born in Houston Texas on July 2, 1964 and her name was Andrea Pia Kennedy. She did well in school and was even class valedictorian. In 1993 she married preacher disciple of Michael Peter Woroniecki, Rusty Yates, and the Yates family was often criticized by Woroniecki and were told their children would go to hell. In 1999 Yates suffered from several family passed mental illnesses including postpartum depression and psychosis. When her 5th child was born around the same time her father passed, she developed a severe depression, attempted suicide by pill overdose, and was forced into the Devereux-Texas Treatment Network. While there, she was treated by Dr. Mohammed Saeed who took her off of her long-taken prescription antipsychotic Haldol and instead prescribed her new psychotic medicine. She had committed the crime while left alone with the children while Rusty went to work, which he was strongly told not to do by her doctor. She started with the young boys (, then the girl Mary which she left floating in the tub. When her oldest son, Noah, came in he then attempted to run before she caught up with him and drowned him as well. After drowning the children she called the police and then called Rusty and only kept repeating to him “It’s time.” When questioned later, Yates defended her actions by saying she wasn’t a good mother and the children were not “developing correctly” and needed to be punished.
