Andrew Clements Andrew Clements, one of the funniest and most amazing authors around. Andrew clements is an american author born in Camden, New Jersey who wrote many big books such as his most popular, Frindle. Frindle is about a young boy who makes his own word for a pen, a frindle. Every author has themes that they like to use in their writing. Some of clements themes are humor and consistency in the main character. One writing style Clements likes to use in his writing is humor. Humor means that he puts little jokes into his writing, or characters do something that is funny. One example of this is in his book Frindle. In this book the boy Nick says “Everything he had heard about this teacher was true -dont mess with the lone granger”(16). This was a little joke about a fifth grade teacher named Ms. Granger. She was super hard and mean. That’s how she got her name the lone granger, like the lone ranger. Last paragraph gave the lone granger example, but that’s not the only humor. In addition to the last example, another funny thing in his book Frindle is when the kids make an oath. The oath states that “from this day on and forever, i will never use the word pen again. Instead i will use the word frindle and i will do everything possible so others will too”(38). The oath is basically saying that he will never say pen again and instead frindle. This is funny because he makes up his own funny word for pen and the whole school eventually starts using frindle.
