New York City, USA New York City is the largest city is the USA, with a population of over eight million and is a major financial capital, with more than four million tourists visiting every year. Unfortunately, this was rather disadvantageous for business, or at least, the kind of business Andrew Dunford intended to carry out. He waited nervously on the steps of a library far too close to his very nice, very expensive Tribeca home for his liking, straightening his (also very nice, very expensive) tie in a tic he had developed nearly eight years ago, and could not seem to control. Andrew's mind flitted involuntarily back the the events that had led him to this point, and not for the first time he wondered what he had gotten himself into. Andrew Dunford was a wealthy man who worked for MiraWorld, an organization that found jobs for the job-less, and provided temporary housing for the homeless. Of course, one did not get rich simply by charity work. When asked, Andrew would rattle off some vague answer about a "family fortune", but those who had known his family well knew that his father had gone through several jobs throughout his son's lifetime, and had been fired from each one for his less than stellar attitude and hair-trigger …show more content…

His assailant walked through the doorway, and Andrew's first hazy thought was that she was holding a gun, and looked very comfortable with it. She was tall, he noticed, with choppy brown hair. Her hat was again hiding her face from view. "So, you finally awake. " Her voice was low and raspy, and there was the slightest tinge of amusement in her voice. Andrew was too afraid to angry. "What- what do you want with me?" The woman tilted her head. "You contacted me, did you not?" "I didn't ask for you to kidnap me,” Andrew snapped, irritation finally winning out. The woman, Death’s Shadow, Andrew supposed, crossed to the windows, where the curtains were tightly
