I believe that Andrew Jackson was “A Man of the People.” He has done many great things to help evolve and shape our country. He is on the $20 bill, which shows great importance. Andrew Jackson is also ranked among the top 10 presidents to have ever run the country. He was “A Man of the People” for relating to what regular people were at the time and accomplishing things to help the country for the ordinary people at the time. Jackson was “A Man of the People” for representing what was common man at the time. He was an ordinary boy, uneducated and owned no property after losing both of his parents at a young age. Jackson always “fought for what he believed was in the interests of the common man”(source 1, paragraph 7). He didn’t win his first election, which was in 1824, and “forever referred to his stolen election as a ‘corrupt bargain’”(Source 1, paragraph 5), but won the second election in 1828. Going from literally 0 to 60, he was ordinary with nothing and then became one of the most important people in the country at his time. While he was president in 1828, he was judged for a lot of things that happened throughout his whole career. That didn’t faze him though, he still had an immense will to do whatever he felt was right. An example of this is the Nullification Crisis. South Carolina threatened to secede from the United States of America and Jackson saw this as wrong which made him angry and said that, “‘If even one drop of blood is shed in defiance of the laws of the United States, I will hang the first man I see from the first tree I can find’”(Source 3, Andrew Jackson’s quote).
