Although Jackson did make a few uncalled for decisions, the pros of his presidency heavily outweigh the cons. Andrew Jackson was a self-made man. He was born in an extremely poor family and was orphaned at a young age. Jackson showed his first act of heroism in 1781 when he refused to clean a British officer’s boots. This is proved in Source #4 where Jackson says the following, “...the farmers, mechanics, and laborers - who have neither the time nor the means of securing like [money] favors to themselves - have a right to complain of the injustice of their government.” This quote may not have many words, but it has a lot of meaning. First off, Jackson looks at the lower people because he knows what it feels like. He knows how hard it is to make a living when money is low. He cared about his people, the rich and the poor. He talks about how the farmers,mechanics, and laborers do not have the time nor means of securing like favors to themselves. They are busy trading with others, earning the money, then spending it quickly for means of survival. Andrew Jackson knows of these hardships and singles them out to show that he cares. Jackson also says that the people have a right to complain of the injustice of their government. He is allowing the people he cares about to complain not only about the government, but about him. Jackson is giving his people a chance to have a voice in the government. If they disagree something, he will listen to them. If they have an idea, he will listen to them.
