Many people have their own personal feelings about whether or not Andrew Jackson truly was “A Man of the People”, but in my opinion, I am on the side of those who believe Andrew Jackson did not do a good job at handling a majority of the problems. Jackson did fairly well at solving the issues with the Bank War, and many other problems. But, here and there he did have his mishaps. He didn’t do a very good job at solving the issues with the Native Americans because of how ruthless he was, and he could have solved the Nullification Crisis a little better. Overall, I believe Andrew Jackson was not truly seen as “A Man of the People” because of the way he took care of his problems. This man did not care one bit about how he treated these people because he had little to no respect for them. This is stated in the text as, “President Andrew Jackson had little sympathy for Native Americans” (Source #2, Native People). This proves that Jackson would have been corrupt to them because he didn’t care about them. Another example of Jackson treating the Native Americans unfairly was when he basically tortured them. In the text it said, “In 1818, Jackson further persecuted native people when he led wars against the Seminole tribe for harboring enslaved people who had escaped” (Source #2, Native People). Jackson basically tortured the Native Americans because they were trying to help slaves hide after escaping, showing us that Jackson had zero respect for any of the Native Americans, or any of the slaves. The final piece of evidence I found for how horrible Andrew Jackson treated the Native Americans was that he forced them out of their own land, just so that we could have more room for expansion out west. Therefore, Andrew Jackson was a very unfair, ruthless man, and he didn’t care about anyone, except
