Andrew Jackson starved, gave disease to, and eventually killed 5,000 people. Only a feat this horrendous can be done by a terrible person with a lot of power. This is former president Andrew Jackson. Although some believe he was a terrific president, he was corrupt and awful. He didn't use his powers safely and he was unfair. People think he is good because he equaled out the national debt, but that debt isn't even a bad thing. He ordered the removal of Indians from their rightful land. Jackson gave all of the government to his friends. He was never even fit to be president. He was a hot tempered common man. Andrew Jackson was not one of the best presidents, but in fact a bad president. One of the most despicable things he did was kick out thousands of Native Americans from their homes. They were treated terribly and 5,000+ died. The worst thing about this is how Andrew Jackson kicked out a group of people for no actual reason. They were innocent and good people trying to cooperate with us. “The Cherokees hired William Wirt to take their case to the Supreme Court” (Remeni). He gave his friends powerful positions instead of the best possible people. “He made most of his decisions with the help of trusted friends and political supporters (Hart 261). He would rather give his friends power than make the general population happy and in good hands. He is not a person for the people. He also angered people so much, that there was almost a state who left America. He made a tax on imported goods and that did not make everyone happy. “But southerners opposed tariffs for several reasons”(Hart 262). He didn't care about the people and he just made the tax.
