Andrew Jackson is a Democrat. The Indian Removal documents, the Spoils System documents, and the Changes in election documents show that he was Democratic. The Indian Removal documents prove Jackson was Democratic. Indian Removal Document 1 shows that the Indians were being moved. This shows that Jackson was Democratic because it helped the farmers get rich land.
Jackson’s voting policies were democratic because they increased the power of the people. In Document 1, the table shows that after Jackson was elected, presidential electors were chosen more and more by the people instead of the legislature. By 1828, the ratio of legislature to people was 2:10. By 1832 and 1836, the ratio changed to 1:11. In line with Document 2, Daniel Webster said that he never saw anything like it, meaning he saw many poor farmers celebrating instead of rich upper class men.

After the War of 1812, Jackson was praised as a courageous leader for his victory at the Battle of New Orleans. Andrew Jackson was part of the common people, which means he wasn’t born into a rich or “well-born” family. This is significant because once he was inaugurated as president, he was claimed to be the first “self made man.” Because the common people received the right to vote in the 1820s, Andrew Jackson won the election and promised that the government would finally be returned to the people.

Document 1 stated that he increased turnouts of voters. Document 1 states “shall the people rule ? Andrew Jacksonions the answering roar seeming to say, the people shall rule”.
Andrew Jackson was born in March 25, 1767. He grew up poor and his father died before he was born. His home was in Waxhaws, a place where there were battles between the Native Americans and the whites. His mother eventually moved into her brother-in-law’s house and work as a maid there. Jackson was known for being short-tempered and getting in trouble many times.
Andrew Jackson during his time was considered a very patriotic politician he hated the rich, he hated the Indian, and loved the idea of slavery. It has been said that he grew up not educated and had a bad up bring but still managed to get to a high political suture. Jackson at one point was general and had a very decorated portfolio, which made sense he would become president, Andrew was most well know for “The Battle of New Orleans” where Andrew Jackson, prevented the British Army and General Edward Pakenham, from seizing New Orleans nearing the end of that war.

It is heavily debated whether Andrew Jackson was truly democratic or not. Democracy is giving power to the people and letting them have more say in government. I believe that Andrew Jackson was mostly democratic because he gave the common man more power, however not everything he did was democratic.
The 1780s seemed many to be a truly critical period for the newly independent United States. Andrew Jackson who asserted his power during peacetime was a large supporter of democracy. In the election of 1824, John Quincy Adams was running against Andrew Jackson. John Quincy Adams, the president from 1824 to 1828, lost re-election to Andrew Jackson. As a result, Andrew Jackson became the United States’ seventh president in 1829.

Although he is remembered as a hero from the war of 1812, he also caused the Trail of Tears and tried to destroy the National Bank. As a result, Jackson should not be put on the $20 bill. His actions have caused many misfortune showing that villains do exist.

Jackson, also called “Old Hickory” was a very bold proactive man in American history. From being a military hero and founding the democratic party to enacting the trail of tears and dismantling the of the Bank of the United States, the man and his legacy are a prominent topic for scholarly debate. Some believe he was a great president and some believe he was the worse president. But if you look at it from a moral perceptive or in the eyes of a foreigner, Jackson’s legacy was far more villainous than heroic.
