Andrew Jackson is known as a man who held some very important roles in American history. He had a childhood as normal as an emigrant, he was a general and was once our president. We chose this topic because we think that Andrew Jackson was an amazing general and lead a great long life as well as lead our country in a positive direction when it came to war. Andrew Jackson was born on March 15, 1767 and his parents were Andrew and Elizabeth Jackson. Andrew and Elizabeth were Irish Presbyterians and had moved from Ireland to America in 1765. Jackson's father was born in Carrickfergus around 1738, in a county called Antrim, which is currently known today to be in Northern Ireland. His son, also named Andrew, was born in the Waxhaw’s area three weeks after. In 1824, it is said, that Andrew Jackson wrote a letter that says he was born in a plantation in Lancaster, Carolina owned by his uncle. But Jackson claims that he lived in South Carolinian because the northern state was considering nullifying the Tariff of 1824, which Jackson opposed. In the mid-1850s, some other evidence shows that he might have been born in another relative’s home in North Carolina. Andrew was able to get an education even though the attendance was not regular.
