What is a hero? A hero can be someone who acts morally and with courage, a role model to learn from. As Nietzsche says, this hero or superman, can be a “figure of great achievement but, more important, of noble or superior character, self-assured with a will to ‘overcome’ a conforming or constricting gravity of custom and morality” (Jacoby 31). In the novella, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, Andy Dufresne is a prisoner, wrongly accused of murdering his wife and her lover. Andy goes through many trials in prison eventually escapes through a hole in the wall covered by a poster. Escaping takes him twenty-nine years to accomplish this. Andy has hope and optimism even though he is in prison. He is kind to others because he is innocent. His friend Red says about him, “He had something that most of the other prisoners, myself included, seemed to lack. Call it a sense of equanimity, or a feeling of inner peace, maybe even a constant and unwavering faith that someday the long nightmare would end...There was none of that sullen desperation about him that seems to afflict most lifers after awhile; you could never smell hopelessness on him. " (King 39) On the other hand, Captain America stood his ground for what he believed. He is honest and he doesn’t keep things that don’t belong to him. His morals are strong and he stands his ground for what he thinks is right. He’s a WW2 hero who tries not to kill people when he’s fighting them. In Captain America, is man of strong character who trusts himself rather than the government. He stands up for what he believes even through others are pressuring him to waiver in his convictions. For example, in the movie, the Avengers are signing a document that gives the government power and control of the Avengers. Steve Rogers agree to government regulation and he he says, “Sorry, Nat.
