Overall synopsis of their bio, key criminogenic factors, known history etc.; Andy was sent to Shawshank for life in 1947 for the cold-blooded murder of his wife, Linda, and her lover, tennis pro Glenn Quentin. Despite the damning evidence placing him at the scene of the crime on the night of the murders. Some known history about Andy is that he is the former vice president of a bank in Portland, Maine, Andy is thirty years old when he arrives at Shawshank and approximately fifty-eight when he escapes. Andy is a short, neat, meticulous man with sandy blond hair, he has small hands and wears gold-rimmed glasses. Analysis of their re-entry needs, strengths and challenges; Andy has some initial difficulty adjusting to prison life, especially because many of the other prisoners think he’s a snob. Andy is a very unique character he is an innocent of the murders of his wife and lover. The kind of re-entry needs that Andy needs is counseling for sure he is a very isolated individual he likes to keep to himself. He also needs something to do during prison, as in running the library is very beneficial to Andy. A few of the challenges that Andy is facing is that is constantly being picked at and getting beaten up in prison by a group of men called the sisters, they are a gang of men known for attacking and raping Andy in the laundry room while the guards look the other way. Andy fights the Sisters, even though it always lands him in the infirmary and sometimes solitary confinement. Despite these hardships, however, Andy never complains or loses his confidence. This is very common in prisons in the United States, Sexual harassment among male inmates like other inmate behavior, can be attributed to the conditions of confinement as well as the cultural and subcultural values that inmates learn and adapt to in prison life. These two causal factors share a common theme: that sexual harassment among male inmates is an act of sexual aggression born from a need to dominate others. In the Shawshank prison we do see a lot of a power struggle the sisters love to overpower Andy with sexual harassment because it’s the Sisters vs. Andy and we all know who usual wins. With a connection from the film to an academic journal I read that an inmate confined in California's Soledad Prison observed, "Not only is the State of California going to take away your freedom, but also your manhood
