He was one of the first artists to ever to use the method of silk-screening and he was also one of the first pop artists to ever become so famous. He was born Andrew Warhol on August 6, 1926. He was raised with two brothers, Paul and John. Warhol’s mother was very religious, he grew up in the Byzantine Catholic Church. His mother made flowers out of tin cans and cleaned houses, and his father worked in construction. From a young age Andy Warhol’s parents knew that he had a gift for art, his mother used to bribe him with candy bars for every piece of art that he finished. Warhol started kindergarten when he was four, a girl hit him on his first day and he did not return to school for another year. When he was eight he contracted Rheumatic Fever, while he was ill he enjoyed reading comic books and magazines. He liked to collect autographed pictures and newspaper clippings of famous hollywood stars and, he became obsessed with fame and glamour. He also went to a lot of movies, this increased his interest in the rich and famous. He was extremely shy and suffered from severe anxiety that started while he was young and lasted his entire life. As Warhol began to grow older, his skin became ashy and pale, he was later diagnosed with Rosacea, he hated his appearance.
