However, songwriters often disguise their work with their choice of diction and figurative languages that are oftentimes unintentionally used but created when the writer tries to resonate more with the audience by creating a Pathos appeal of either happiness or sadness or in this case an empowering sense. By utilizing the rhetorical language it is sustaining an ethos appeal to trustworthiness and a pathos appeal to empathy for the person. The author states, “In your eyes, I see the eyes of somebody. I knew before, long ago.” The author implies a remark about himself in second person and response to it in the first person, which is known as dialogismus. Within the context of the phrases lyrics the writer simply implying that somewhere deep inside of him, he sees he still that same person from a long time ago, which is a rhetorical statement to get the audience to think and create a sense of imagery. Following that line, the author states, “But I'm still trying to make my mind up. Am I free or am I tied up.” Its use of dialogismus with the writers choice of diction, makes the pathos and ethos becomes present, and it makes the audience think over an idea in a innovative way.
