A weak government can make any society, no matter its other accomplishments crumble and this shows that a Strong Government is essential for a society to thrive. Animal Farm, an Allegory about the Russian Revolution can show us an example of this. In Animal Farm, they revolt against the humans and form a new Animal Farm-like country. Although, they did not prepare for this and faced harsh consequences because of this. Animal Farm, shows an example of what a weak government can do to a society, and how failures by public officials ruin societies. As Orwell says in Animal Farm, “The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.” (Orwell, 112). Orwell shows here that the leaders of Animal Farm, the pigs, failed the rest of the Animals, failing their promises and becoming exactly like the humans that they revolted against. Azbarcahed explains in his Article about the Soviet Unions Collapse, “ On August 19, 1991, two days before a new Union Treaty was to be signed, the hardliners, among them the vice president, ministers of internal affairs and defense, and the commander-in-chief of ground forces, attempted a coup.” ( Azbarzahed, Shamram, “The Soviet Union: Collapse of the USSR and Formation of Independent Republics'') This quote shows that Gorbachev's weak leadership and failed control over the rest of his government had caused a coup and the eventual collapse of the Union. In Animal Farm, you see Napoleon use his dogs as a show of force and as his military, although Animal Farm was not a successful society so the strong military show of force did not work. “with his nine huge dogs frisking around him and uttering growls that sent shivers down all the animals' spines. They all cowered silently in their places, seeming to know in advance that some terrible thing was about to happen.” (Animal Farm) This quote shows that Napoleon used his dogs, or his military to show force and scare the people, this failed and shows that no matter the military force if the government is weak then it will be for no good.
