Historically, many comparisons can be made between George Orwell’s novel Animal Farm and the Russian Revolution. Orwell believed that even though socialism is favorable, it can never be successfully embraced due to uncontrollable sins of human nature. During the Russian Revolution many of Joseph Stalin 's important decisions are related to the actions of Napoleon from Animal Farm. Even though, Napoleon and Stalin both ended differently a lot of what they did is the same. Napoleon and Stalin are similar because their lust for power, their opinion on creating equal and fair environment and their selfishness.

They both care about their life being threatened in some kind of way. By the end of Animal Farm Napoleon had turn back to the humans “He had only one criticism, he said, to make of Mr. Pilkington 's excellent and neighbourly speech. Mr. Pilkington had referred throughout to "Animal Farm." He could not of course know-for he, Napoleon, was only now for the first time announcing it-that the name "Animal Farm" had been abolished. Henceforward the farm was to be known as "The Manor Farm" – which, he believed, was its correct and original name. (Orwell 104). Napoleon had turn he is back against the animals and started doing thing for his own benefit. Stalin had made a mass killing “Preparing to make “his” half of the occupied country part of the Soviet Union, in May 1940 Stalin ordered NKVD, the Soviet secret police, to identify and “eliminate” Polish “intelligence agents,gendarmes, landowners, saboteurs, factory owners, lawyers, officials, and priests” who might turn out to be difficult citizens. He had wanted “his” side of Poland so if there were polish people and they didn 't go under his control they were killed. Napoleon and Stalin had betrayed and killed people/animals. One similarity between Napoleon and Stalin is they would eliminate anyone who would disagree with them or rebel against their rules. In the book Animal Farm Napoleon gets rid of Snowball because they didn't agree on what to do for the farm and he was worried all the animals would side with Snowballs ideas not Napoleons.
