The Mirabal sisters, also known as La Mariposas, have been known throughout the Dominican Republic for participating in a major revolution against their unjust ruler, Rafael Trujillo. After years of the sisters’ hard-work, along with the others who were involved in the revolution, their work paid off when Trujillo's regime ended with his assassination. However, in order for them to have taken part in this act against Trujillo, the Mirabal sisters had to sacrifice several things from their lives, most importantly, their freedom and their relationship with their family. Many people believe that these sacrifices were not necessary because the sisters didn’t need to go to the extent where the end result would be them orphaning their children. Nonetheless,

Billie Jo says, “And I’m wondering what kind of friend I am, wanting my feet on that road to another place, instead of Livie’s” (9). Billie Jo is feeling guilty because she wishes it was her leaving instead of Livie. Billie Jo, runs away and gets on a train to leave the dust of Oklahoma behind.
Anna’s Traits How would the Byzantine empire be today if Anna Comnena, a princess born to inherit the throne but died in a nunnery due to a failed attempt of murder, actually inherited the throne? Anna of Byzantium is a novel written by Tracy Barrett in 1998. It is a historical fiction book telling of Anna Comnena, a Byzantine princess and the events that happened to her in her lifetime. Anna Comnena, the ambitious heir the throne of the Roman Empire, was a well educated, arrogant, and vengeful person.
In the book 1984, the world is in a dull and hopeless state. The book follows Winston in this dull environment called Oceania. It’s not till he meets Julia that there is a spark in his life. Together they are happy and attempt to throw over the party. Something that neither could do alone.

They do this through the use of drugs, pop culture, as well as character and emotional manipulation. Tactics like these create habits and addictions that are almost impossible to break.
Although Minerva spends her life battling against the implacable wrath of Trujillo, the two are more alike than Minerva would care to acknowledge. Minerva Mirabal, a rebellious woman aspiring to make a change in the world and Trujillo, a ruthless dictator, have many apparent differences. Despite this, they both share a multitude of qualities: obstinace, contentiousness, and tenaciousness. While walking to the Discovery Day Dance, Minerva makes a candid comment about the severe rain and her sister Patria snaps, "Ay, Minerva, por Dios, keep that tongue in check tonight"(Alvarez 94). Patria believes that if Minerva does not watch what she says at the party, she will put herself in grave danger.
Cathy Ames has been criticized because she is completely evil. It has expressed throughout the novel that Cathy is inhuman. She has no emotion, no feelings, and no good in her. Many state that she is a symbol for Satan or a witch, who is pawn of Satan. People go so far in declaring that she is one of these evil spirits because even from birth she was filled with extreme evil and darkness, lacking characteristic that make up a human.
Stereotypes are making it hard for women of color to be seen in a positive light on and off the screen. For example, Tichina Arnold who is Rochelle from Everybody Hates Chris, plays a mother who is short-tempered, strict, and loud but successfully runs the household on a tight budget. Rochelle fits the stereotype that black woman are ghetto, angry, loud, obnoxious, strict, and humorous. Rochelle expresses these qualities repeatedly throughout the show but mostly when is disciplining her children. Not only does she fall into the typical black mother punishment style, but she falls into the welfare receiving black mom category.

He thinks the hauntings are over and is overwhelmed with a rush of renewed Christmas spirit and an appreciation for life. He is ready to go out into the festive air and spread his Christmas cheer; he is ready to show all he will try to love and allow himself to be loved.
In “The Sea of Monsters” the three main characters are Percy, Annabeth and Tyson. I believe that Percy is a Capricorn, Annabeth is a Scorpio and Tyson is a Sagittarius. Firstly I believe that Percy is a Capricorn because of he is Brave, Loyal, and Stubborn. He is Brave by accepting an adventure that saves the school, and his mother.
In the book “Two Kinds” by Amy Tan, it’s about a little girl who is pressured by her mother to become something she doesn’t want to be. Jing- mei , the daughter, is forced to become a prodigy(child actress), by her mother, and she doesn’t want to be one. In the story, Jing- meis’ mother uses allusions such as Shirley Temple to push her into becoming a prodigy. Although at first Jing- mei is excited to become a prodigy, she later realizes its something she just doesn’t enjoy doing. Consequently, the uses of allusion in the story help Jing- mei discover to not be a prodigy and that what her mother wants for her is not always important.

Gabriella Montez’s primary stereotype is the “nerd.” The first time Gabriella is seen, she is reading a book. This is a common indication used throughout the film industry that leads viewers to make the assumption that the character in question is introverted and intelligent. When Gabriella transfers to a new school, it is made clear that she is in fact academically talented. She is referred to as a “freaky genius girl” and “an Einsteinette.”
The goal of this activity was to compare and contrast two main characters of Frankenstein whom are Victor Frankenstein and Elizabeth Lavenza. Some of their similarities is their thirst for knowledge, and they are both very caring. Their differences include, how they approach and deal with problems, and their personalities (explained later). Both are very similar and barley have any differences but, the ones that they do have are very distinctable. Starting with similarities, Elizabeth and Victor share many such as their thirst for knowledge.
