Anne Frank. She was a brave, energetic, girl who somehow stayed upbeat during one of the worst times in history. Anne was a very young, Jewish girl who was born on June 12, 1929, to a family of three. Her life was pretty run of the mill before World War ll. She would go to school like any other kid would play with her friends, and just do basic, everyday things they would normally do. Her whole life changed when her sister received a letter to go to a work camp in Germany. Anne, along with the rest of her family went into hiding in a small attic apartment nearby her father’s business in Amsterdam.

As I said before, she stayed content during such a horrible time. In addition, Jewish people have different holidays than most of us. During one of their holidays known as Hanukkah, Anne had made gifts for everyone out of what little material she had, even to the people who had been nothing but Mingy to her in Scene 1, Act 5. Still, Anne has also tried to get Peter to look up and enjoy his surroundings, to try to get his mind off of everything that has, and is going to happen. She tries to get him to look around, show him the beautiful, warm, sunshine that they have barely seen for the past two years during Scene 4, Act 2. Multiple times we are shown that she is not afraid to fight back to others who are much older than her. For instance, for example, we are shown this in Act 1, Scene 3, Mr. Vandam yelled at Anne for talking all the time after her quarrel with Peter. While Mr. Vandam is looking for his pipe, he asks Anne where it could be, to which she responds with “Am I allowed to talk now?” Then she states how Peter is the most insufferable boy she has ever met.
