Annelies Marie Frank was born on the twelfth of June in 1929. She is one of the most talked about Jewish victims of the holocaust. She was born in the city of Frankfurt, Germany but she spent most of her life in Amsterdam. After her diary was published, she gain a lot of fame. It mainly documents the time of her hiding during the holocaust when Hitler came to power. Anne and her family moved from Germany to Amsterdam in 1933. The family went into hiding in some concealed rooms behind a bookcase in the building where Anne’s father worked. In August 1944, they were betrayed and sent to a concentration camp. The diary was given to Anne on her 13th birthday and she wrote in it almost daily for two years. She mainly spoke about day to day activities and she also wrote about the changes that she encountered throughout the years. She had always dreamt about becoming an actress. The Franks’ apartment was left in a big mess when they fled into hiding to make it look like they had just suddenly left. Otto Frank left a note saying that they were going to Switzerland. They also had to leave Anne’s cat behind in their apartment. Only four people knew where the Franks were in hiding. Those people catered to their needs and were their only connections to the outside world. They were aware that they could be put to death for helping them. On July 13,1942, the Franks were joined by the van Pels family. Anne had mixed feelings about that family. She liked Peter and longed for him. Then she also said that they were foolish and they consumed too much food. In her writing, she described the relationships with each of her family members and how they were getting along.
