The Childhood of Anne Frank
While many people read Anne Frank: The Diary of Young Girl, most people do not know what Anne Frank did before her life in hiding during World War II. Throughout the diary, Anne expresses herself as an enjoyable, enthusiastic person to be around. She showed these qualities in Germany when she was a little kid.
A Jewish girl, named Anne Frank, was born June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt, Germany to her parents, Otto Frank and Edith Hollander Frank, who were very into German life; in fact, Otto Frank fought in World War I for the Germans. In 1933 while Hilter rose to power, Jewish people were not allowed to have freedom of speech and Jewish businesses got boycotted. Later that year, Otto, Edith, and Anne's sister, Margot, moved to Amsterdam and started a small business to make a substance used to make jam. As the speaker states, "After staying behind in Germany with her grandmother in the city of Aachen, Anne joined her parents and sister Margot (1926-45) in the Dutch capital in February 1934" ("History.com"

She loved going to school to see her friends. At school, Anne was known to be an energetic, popular girl. In 1941, a law passed that Jewish kids were forced to go to Jewish Schools. Anne was very upset. Later in her diary, she writes about how she misses her friends. During Spring, 1942, all Jewish people had to wear bright yellow stars on their chest that said "Jood" which meant Jew. Anne gained frustration with all of these rules but realized to be thankful for when she could ride on public transportation or go to school. As the writer explains, "In June, Anne turned 13 and received a diary for her birthday—the first volume of three she would keep during the war" ("Historynet.com").
