Can you imagine being cooped up in an Annex for 2 years, then being sent to a concentration camp? Anne Frank lived through these hardships, but she still said, “Despite everything, I really believe people are really good at heart,” Someone who was tortured like that still thought people were good at heart. This fascinating statement is something that I believe too because people do bad things that they regret, people also don’t intend to be bad, people could also be bad at times but really are good hearted. First, people will do bad things that they regret after discovering it wasn’t the right thing to do. In The Diary of Anne Frank, it states, “The bread! He was stealing the bread!...Stop it! Stop it!” (p. 365 and 366). This shows how people are sorry when they do bad things. This also proves that people regret the bad things they do. The Diary of Anne Frank states, “...you said you loved your mother as well... Oh Pim, I was horrible, wasn’t I?” (p.335). This shows that Anne is regretful for saying she didn’t love her mother.
