During World War II, the German Reich marched across the entire continent of Europe. During the Holocaust, many people became discouraged and lost hope in the future of society. However, the excerpts from “Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl,” written by herself, and “Hitler Youth: Growing up in Hitler’s Shadow” by Susan Campbell Bartoletti, prove that being positive and persevering is the best thing that someone can do. Whether hiding from the Nazis or already taken by them, the best response to have during conflict and chaos is maintaining a positive outlook on life and to persist through difficult times.
Anne also had a very hopeful spirit when having one of her “dates” with peter in his room. They got to talking about what they used to do in there every day life’s before the war had stared and they had lived in the annex , and what they wanted to do when they got out and the war ended. Franklin D. Roosevelt America’s Hope Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, “When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.” which is what many people did in the time Roosevelt was in office. People were “hanging onto the ends of their ropes” during World War II, which is when people needed faith that loved ones would come back from war and everything would be alright. Franklin D. Roosevelt changed the world by showing that people with disabilities can be something great. He gave people hope during World War II when people needed reassurance that everything would be alright.
Annelies Marie Frank, or mostly known as Anne Frank was born on June 12,1929 in Frankfurt, Germany. She lived with her family during World War II in Amsterdam. Many of the Jews were fleeing from the persecution of the Nazi’s under the orders of Adolf Hitler at the time. This devastating time was during the Holocaust that lasted from 1933-1945. They quickly went into hiding with seven others including her mother, Edith Frank, and her father, Otto Frank, and her sister, Margot.
Anne’s relationship with her mother is gradually maturing and improving. “ I used to be furious with Mummy, and still am sometimes.” This shows that Anne still gets angry with her mother, but not all the time. This shows that her relationship with her mother is getting better because Anne used to get mad at her mother all the time. In that sentence she said “sometimes” .
Lastly, Anne uses writing style to her advantage as well. A literary device that is very obvious and clear in this story is the use of imagery. As she goes on with the story, she explains in such detail every single event. There are many occasions where this is proven, but to quote the story… "I looked around and, as if I was waking up from a nightmare, I saw that there was nothing or no one behind me. No fire, no bombs, no people.
Anne Frank and her family go into hiding into an old office building annex. Due to the Holocaust and them being Jewish they must go into hiding. They tell people they are going to Switzerland to trick the Nazi’s in thinking that's where they are instead of in hiding. Ultimately there were eight people hiding in this building, another family of Jews, called the Van Daan's, Mr. Dussel was also there without his wife because she wasn’t Jewish and didn't have to go into hiding. The Franks were there of course and another family that wasn't Jewish but was there to Protect them.
She thinks that she is hurting her mom’s fleeing. The passage states,” I soothe my conscience now with the thought that is better for hard word to be on paper than that mummy should carry them in her heart.” That is one example of Anne being maturing. In Addition, Anne is being hard on herself. She blame is on herself and tries to stop.
In 1933, Germany was ruled by the new dictator Adolf Hitler. He wanted to create the perfect Aryan race, so he murdered many Jewish people, minorities, and people of color. During this time period Anne Frank and her family went into hiding in a secret annex located in Amsterdam. Anne Frank is a Jewish girl that documented the struggles and living conditions in her diary. In the play titled, “The Diary of Anne Frank,” by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, the audience gets to see the life of Anne Frank and her seven “roommates” live together for over two years.

The Diary of Anne Frank is about a young jewish girl named Anne Frank, who has to go into hiding with her family in order to not get caught and taken away by the Nazis in Amsterdam, and while in hiding, records her experiences and thoughts into her diary. Farewell to Manzanar is a book based on a girl named Jeanne Wakatsuki who is seven years old at the time, and gets taken away with her family to Manzanar encampments, as the U.S. government doesn’t want to risk any Japanese Americans possibly giving up information to the Japanese as they are at war with them. Anne Frank and Jeanne Wakatsuki have many similarities and differences throughout their lifetimes on the run from the war.
The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank details approximately two years of the life a Jewish teenager during World War II. During much of the time period covered by her journal, Anne and her family are in hiding in an attempt to escape Hitler’s anti-Jewish laws and genocidal desires. Anne’s diary ends abruptly in August, 1944 when she and her family are taken into custody by the Germans and transported to concentration camps. Before that Anne writes a detailed journal which depicts are courageous character and strong resolve to overcome the storm. However she seems to be socially isolated within her family and other members while in hiding.
The novel is written from a third person objective. This novel is written as a play, so I know that this is third person. Plays are narrated in third person because you do not see the play through one character 's viewpoint. Also the word I does not often appear in the play.
