Over the next few weeks the children, especially Tariji, began to be less and less accessible or visible to the community. Fryer began to miss scheduled and unscheduled meetings and appointments with her Case Worker and others. The children where often kept home from school and daycare because Fryer said it was “too cold.” One day Tariji was kept home, the school bus driver asked Fryer to see the little girl and she refused. Prior to arriving at Vista Maria, Ms. Jones indicated that Tanyia’s temperament has been aggressive, defiant, and argumentative. Through her stay at Vista Maria, her temperament has lessened with the help of her therapy and better coping skills, but also she still displays a low frustration tolerance. When first arriving to the facility, Tanyia’s disposition was cooperative but guarded. Through the strengthening of the therapeutic alliance and her gained skills, she has been able to display a more positive disposition. Tanyia’s moods fluctuate day-to-day.
From an early age she showed signs of deviant
She was constantly running away, experimenting with drugs, and her temper tantrums would scare away her friends. With her constant sexual activity, Aileen gets pregnant at the age of 14. Once her grandparents found out, they sent her away to deliver the baby and give it up for adoption. Soon after she returns home her grandmother passes away, and her grandfather who has had enough of Aileen and Keith’s troubled activities kicks them both out of the house.
When she was young, she could not process the way her father raised and treated her, so she believed everything he said. When she is able to understand, her tone changes and becomes clinical and critical remembering the way he constantly let her
Furthermore, Lisa’s introvert-like personality by her inability to connect with many people for she comes from a childhood full of adversity and unstable personal relationships. She feels that no one will understand her struggle or immediately think of her as “weird” or too dysfunctional which is proven when she states her fear of coming clean to her foster parents, “I didn’t want to say anything to them about Mama. If I did, they might send be back like a defective toaster.” (42). Her comparison of herself to a broken piece of equipment reflects her feeling of being valueless and a damaged person; moreover, her fear of having her foster parents, Paul and Janet, reject her immediately once they hear her story is epitomized by Lisa as she thinks people see her as an object that needs to be returned if found to be faulty.
Although she does not offer subjective opinions on her experiences, these experiences clearly affect her in a negative manner. She attempts to disconnect herself from the world around her, but instead becomes a silent victim of the turmoil of the chaotic

While reading the story, you can tell in the narrators’ tone that she feels rejected and excluded. She is not happy and I’m sure, just like her family, she wonders “why her?” She is rejected and never accepted for who she really is. She is different. She’s not like anyone else
The main one being her firmly believing her mother was against her. Her hate for her mother grew throughout the story. Annie first felt this when her mom bought different clothing, whereas Annie was accustomed to wearing the same thing as her mom. She also later on called her mom a hore. This is very regrettable because all in all Annie misjudged her mom as she was only trying to do what was best for her daughter.

The behavioural development of a feral child illustrates abnormalities of its basic process, biological, person and socio-cultural behaviours. A feral child is a kid who has lived in isolation from human contact starting from a very young age. They have little or no experience with human care, no loving or social behavior or any human language. I don’t believe that Nell would be classified as a feral child. She grew up with love and affection from her mother and sister, and interacted with both of them. The doctors assume she is mentally challenged because of the behaviors she displays, as well as not being able to understand or communicate with Jerry or Paula.
